Today I walked out to free Buddy from the trampoline your littlest siblings had left him zipped in when I heard them talking in the old barn. Isaiah yelled, "I got it!" and came running out holding a baggie saying, "mom, we got it, we got the baby squirrel!" I looked at the baggie with the specimen securely zipped inside, legs still moving and realized they had caught a small rat. I didn't even know where to begin!? I told the kids, much to their utter shock and disappointment, that it was not a baby squirrel, but a rat. Isaiah promptly handed over the sack and I promptly sat it on the ground. They ran in and washed their hands then came back out to see it one more time. By then the cats had found it and we had to hold them off so I could take a picture...soon to follow...and then let Tiger take it off for his afternoon snack. Isaiah was so proud that he'd caught it and that Tiger liked it! I had to ask how he'd managed to catch it. He said it was hopping and hopping so me and Emma got sticks and held it and put it in a baggie. Too funny. Later I asked Emma about it and she said, "I went in the barn and said what are you doing ISAIAH and he said 'just catchin a squirrel' and I I fink and fink...that's not a squirrel." They are so funny, I can sometimes hardly keep a straight face!
Emma has been so funny lately and I've finally found the paper I wrote some of her latest on:
One afternoon she comes in the kitchen and states, "I went in the bathroom and I smelled suppin and said 'Oh my gush!' We need to take care of THAT, huh mom!?"
I scolded her for bossing Isaiah and told her she was not the mommy and she replied, "but I am the princess."
I told her we were going to the bull barns to watch Blake show and she said, "The other day Blake's feet got hurt so let's try it again, okay, mom?"
And one from Isaiah:
He was praying for all the children in Africa without homes and prayed they would have families and be combined. Then he stops and asks me, what's combined? I say it's when something is put together. He says, yes Jesus that they will be combined...is that right, mom? I say , yes and he then finishes with, "yes! combined Jesus!"
If only I could record all of our conversations, but someday when we get to heaven we'll definitely have to ask to see these moments again. I also have some pictures of the kids learning to ride their bikes without training wheels that I took today. I really just need to get the software downloaded on our new Mac so I can do it from here. Maybe this week!? Love you.
